Hi, My name is Julie Day.

My ceramic career began in 1986 in N.S.W. when I decided to join an Arts Centre at St.Marys. It was at that point that my obsession with clay was to become a life long passion.

I went on to study At the Penrith Institute of Tafe. in N. S. W.

In 2001 after moving back to Tasmania , I gained a Contemporary Arts degree followed by Master of Fine Arts and Design in 2004.

I now run a ceramic studio Clay By Day at Kayena, Tas.

I specialize in both wheel thrown and hand built ceramics influenced by contemporary and traditional art forms. Each piece is uniquely handcrafted on the premises where a large range of works are available for sale as well as online.

My Studio Clay By Day is situated at 70 Kayena Road, Kayena, Tasmania. I look forward to welcoming you!

My studio is open by appointment or when "Open" signs are displayed. Please phone me on 0422665481.

Tour groups are most welcome. Please let me know a day or two beforehand to arrange times.

This is conditional on the current covid 19 restrictions.

Workshops on request . Please email me re classes etc. Beginners and more advanced students are catered for.

During recent times I have moved forward to working in mid-fired porcelain and have expanded my studio to accomodate my many visitors.

I am continually influenced by the many patterns, shapes and textures found in our natural environment.
